A few years back, or how it all began.
Comette cosmetics wasn’t created in a day, you might say! I’ve always been a country girl, although I’m only just beginning to understand the deeper meaning of the phrase! I never imagined that I’d be making cosmetics or simply working in a profession related to plants and nature, let alone one combining chemistry and highly specialized knowledge.
My Physics/Chemistry teacher in tenth grade certainly wouldn’t have believed you! I’d have to give him a call! And yet, here I am today, at the age of 29, head of a company offering a range of 100% natural cosmetics, which I manufacture in my laboratory in Drôme Provençale.
So let’s start by explaining the whys and wherefores. I’ve always been passionate. Passionate about everything: theater, art, music, flowers, cooking, dancing, the stars, reading, travelling – in short, I’ve never been bored by anything, apart from maybe being literally bored by doing nothing at all.
By nature extremely “dynamic” and never one to sit still, after graduating from business school I decided to go to South America for several months. I fell in love with the continent and, my curiosity being greater than I was, I continued to travel for years to Australia, the United States, India…
Duringall my travels, I’ve met thousands of human beings, discovered dozens of cultures, rituals, beliefs and, above all, ways of living and seeing life.
An important event that I’ll reveal in another article got me thinking about the impact and, above all, the trace I’d like to leave on this precious, wonderful Earth, and after some reflection I decided to minimize my impact and do everything I could to leave a trace that could make a difference.
I then asked myself the question of how to do it, and above all, how to do it in a way that respected my passions and desires. Naturally, I came up with the idea of creating 100% natural and organic cosmetics, with containers and packaging made in France, using short distribution channels and a maximum of local ingredients.
This first article in a long list is dedicated to those who would like to know a little more about the person behind Comette cosmetics and who are also curious at heart.
In this blog, you’ll find portraits of my local producers, as well as tips, recipes, behind-the-scenes information, photos and updates on the life of Comette cosmetics and its creator. Finally, there’s a free space for comments and questions, which I’ll always try to answer to the best of my ability.
See you soon,
Alice
